American elm bark – the classic for the stomach and intestines

Elm bark is a proven classic from natural history - especially when it comes to sensitive stomach and intestinal areas. For our AniForte® Elm Bark Liquid, we only use the original American red elm bark (Slippery Elm), which is known for its mucus-forming properties.

When in contact with water, the elm bark forms a gel-like, slimy mass. This lays like a protective film on the stomach and intestinal mucous membranes and can have a calming and soothing effect there. The long-chain sugar molecules (polysaccharides) they contain are largely responsible for this special effect. Studies show that elm bark can stimulate mucus production in the digestive tract and thus not only helps to support natural gastrointestinal function, but also helps to transport swallowed hairs – for example in cats – more easily through the intestine.

Natural moor powder – valuable humic acids from the depths of the earth

Peat powder is formed from millennia-old, organically enriched material that has formed through natural decomposition processes in deeper layers of the earth. It contains a variety of valuable substances – especially humic acids, minerals and trace elements – that are traditionally used to support the gastrointestinal tract.

The valuable natural moor powder can bind excess acids and pollutants in the digestive system and thus help to calm the stomach and intestinal mucous membranes. Especially after diarrhea or food changes, it can gently regulate digestion without burdening the organism.

For the AniForte® Elm Bark Liquid, we use finely prepared, purified natural moor powder from controlled origin - gently processed and of course free of artificial additives.

Psyllium husks – fibre with swelling power

Psyllium husks are the seed coats of the plant Plantago ovata and are known for their exceptional swelling ability. They can bind many times their own weight in water – this creates a gel-like substance that spreads in the digestive tract and can naturally support intestinal movement. Psyllium husks can have a regulating effect, especially in the case of soft faeces or irregular bowel movements: They provide more volume in the intestine, slow down intestinal transit in diarrhea and stimulate natural peristalsis in sluggish digestion - without any irritants or chemical additives.

In combination with elm bark and natural moor powder, the psyllium husks complete the unique recipe of AniForte® Slippery Elm Bark Liquid. They help to ensure that the mixture is optimally distributed in the digestive tract and that its mucus-forming properties can develop their full effect - gentle, supportive and highly tolerated.

Tip: If your pet doesn't like the taste of AniForte® Elm Bark Liquid directly, you can simply mix it with some cooled meat broth or refine it with a tasty topping such as some juice from wet food or fresh meat.
